Finding a Home for Workforce Housing: Northwest Georgia Regional Commission’s Innovative Approach to Infill Development
This case study explores the role of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission (NWGRC) in creating much-needed workforce housing in the city of Dalton, Georgia. By providing grant writing support, convening stakeholders, and lending its expertise in zoning and land use planning, NWGRC helped bring about the Hamilton Street Rural Workforce Housing Project, which will transform three acres of centrally located vacant land into a 39-unit housing development affordable to the region’s working families.
