Understanding ATV and UTV Risks: Data-Driven Safety Solutions for Alabama

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the most frequent causes of ATV/UTV crashes and injuries, with an emphasis on roadway-related incidents and contributing environmental or behavioral factors.
  • Evaluate data and trends to inform transportation planning, public outreach, and infrastructure improvements aimed at preventing ATV/UTV incidents.
  • Explain Alabama’s ATV/UTV laws and regulations, including roadway restrictions, registration requirements, and operator safety mandates.
  • Recognize the unique challenges ATVs and UTVs pose to transportation safety and roadway design, particularly in rural and mixed-use areas.
  • Apply evidence-based strategies and engineering countermeasures to reduce ATV/UTV-related crashes and fatalities.
  • Collaborate with community partners and enforcement agencies to promote ATV/UTV safety education and compliance initiatives.
