On behalf of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO), we are proud to join in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). For six decades, EDA has played a vital role in advancing economic opportunity, building resilient communities, and fostering regional innovation across the United States.
Since its founding in 1965, EDA has been a steadfast federal partner to regional development organizations, local governments, and community leaders working to spur job creation, leverage private investment, and support long-term, sustainable economic growth. The EDA’s flexible, place-based investment approach has empowered regions to address their unique challenges and capitalize on their strengths—principles that lie at the heart of NADO’s mission.
Through strategic investments in infrastructure, planning, workforce development, and innovation, EDA has helped build stronger economies in both urban and rural America. In doing so, it has forged lasting partnerships with Economic Development Districts (EDDs), many of which are NADO members, to deliver impactful, community-driven solutions.
As we commemorate this milestone, we look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with EDA to meet the evolving needs of America’s regional economies. Together, we remain committed to building a future where all communities have the opportunity to compete and thrive in our nation’s economic ecosystem.
