Senior Advisor, Inclusive Economic Growth

New Growth Innovation Network (http://www NULL.newgrowth (NGIN) is a national network of economic development practitioners focused on inclusive economic growth and closing structural opportunity gaps, to ensure that people of color, women and neglected geographies are a core part of regional economic growth and prosperity.  NGIN recently received an award (https://eda NULL.htm) from U.S. Economic Development Administration for “Inclusive Development in EDD’s COVID-19 Recovery.”  In response to the economic injury of COVID-19, NGIN will build a National Community of Practice and work with six Economic Development Districts (EDDs) to implement inclusive economic growth strategies for a durable economic recovery.

NGIN is hiring a Senior Advisor, Inclusive Economic Growth to lead this project.  This position will be responsible for leading the engagement with six Economic Development Districts (EDDs), managing analytics and recommendations for each EDD, synthesizing project insights for practitioners and ensuring overall program outcomes are delivered. This position provides a leadership opportunity and an opportunity to make important contributions to the sector.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Actively engage economic development organizations in geographies where NGIN is not present to introduce NGIN and explore opportunities for collaboration
  • Build relationships with Economic Development Districts (EDDs) and Regional Planning Organizations (RPOs) interested in inclusive economic growth
  • Conduct research on regional inclusive economic policies and models for recovery from COVID-19
  • Work in consultation with a range of stakeholders to identify and prioritize six EDDs
  • Work with each of the six EDDs to define scope of analytics and technical assistance design
  • Manage technical assistance offering, determining optimal partners to support each EDD
  • Develop recommendations and embed findings and actions in six different Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS)
  • Synthesize insights from EDDs to share with the National Community of Practice
  • Work closely with NGIN team members, especially the Associate and Finance partner, to track project progress and document results
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the donor and subawardee
  • Ensure compliance with Federal guidelines across the breadth of the project

About the Candidate:  You have strong experience in economic development and a firm commitment to inclusion and economic justice.  You have the ability to think both critically and creatively, you are methodical in your work and you have excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience working with EDDs or RPOs, experience and understanding of CEDS
  • Understanding of Federal Award guidelines
