North Central Regional Planning Commission is looking to hiring their next Executive Director. The Executive Director is appointed by and reports directly to the Executive Committee of the Regional Planning Commission. The Executive Director is responsible for hiring and maintaining a qualified staff, overseeing the annual budget, and providing daily operational supervision of the staff and all activities of the Commission. The Executive Director directs and coordinates a wide variety of community programs. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of the NCRPC’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy as well as producing various other reports to federal, state and local agencies and authorities.


  • Assign, supervise and evaluate work of subordinates. Resolve grievances and administer disciplinary action. Approve hiring and termination actions. Ensure adherence to personnel policies and the provision of adequate training.
  • Confer with Board of Directors to identify and help resolve problems in various areas, e.g., organizational structure, finance, human resources, legal, intergovernmental relationships, etc.
  • Plan and develop programs, services and activities based on analysis of service area growth, usage patterns, workload, staffing levels, requests and related legislative issues to provide appropriate services
  • Monitor state and federal agency activities relating to North Central Kansas counties.
  • Coordinate activities and act as liaison with a wide variety of organizations and agencies, including the Kansas Association of Counties, League of Kansas Municipalities, and other local, state, regional and national groups.


  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in economics, geography, planning, political science, public or business administration, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one or more of the fields named.
  • Experience: Five (5) years in community/economic planning and development or related arena with demonstrated growth in responsibility and involvement in personnel oversight


  • Salary - $70,000 - $90,000
