Associate, Inclusive Economic Growth

New Growth Innovation Network (http://www NULL.newgrowth (NGIN) is a national network of economic development practitioners focused on inclusive economic growth and closing structural opportunity gaps, to ensure that people of color, women and neglected geographies are a core part of regional economic growth and prosperity.  NGIN recently received an award (https://eda NULL.htm) from U.S. Economic Development Administration for “Inclusive Development in EDD’s COVID-19 Recovery.” In response to the economic injury of COVID-19, NGIN will build a National Community of Practice and work with six Economic Development Districts (EDDs) to implement inclusive economic growth strategies for a durable economic recovery.

NGIN is hiring an Associate, Inclusive Economic Growth.  The position acts as the project-lynchpin, with responsibilities for managing workplans, timelines and deliverables, identifying and mitigating programmatic risks, liaising with the subawardee on timelines and deliverables, summarizing project outcomes and preparing progress reports for the donor. NGIN is seeking a talented and meticulous individual with strong project management skills, a solid understanding of Federal Award guidelines and an interest in inclusive economic growth.

Responsibilities & Key Activities:

  • Own the overall project workplan, identifying and mitigating risks to delivery
  • Develop and maintain specific work plans for key programmatic activities and priority deliverables
  • Liaise with NGIN team members on project progress
  • Develop systems for tracking and ensuring team progress towards project work plans
  • Prepare program reports for EDA, summarizing progress and performance
  • Work closely with the finance partner on matching expenditures and project progress for reporting
  • When contractors are used, support project team with procurement processes, ensuring compliance with Federal guidelines
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors and project partners
  • Coordinate project team meetings with donor and subawardee, including scheduling, hosting and agenda development
  • Track impact, outputs and outcomes and other project information for grant impact reporting

About the Candidate: 

You have a firm commitment to inclusion and economic justice.  You have the ability to think both critically and creatively.  You are methodical, organized and can balance multiple projects concurrently.  You enjoy building new skills and are comfortable as member of a team in a low-structure environment.

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in project management in a startup or nonprofit setting
  • Understanding of Federal Award guidelines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
