Advisor, Inclusive Economic Growth

New Growth Innovation Network (http://www NULL.newgrowth NULL.org/) (NGIN) is a national network of economic development practitioners focused on inclusive economic growth and closing structural opportunity gaps, to ensure that people of color, women and neglected geographies are a core part of regional economic growth and prosperity.  NGIN recently received an award (https://eda NULL.gov/news/blogs/2021/03/08/eda-partners NULL.htm) from U.S. Economic Development Administration for “Inclusive Development in EDD’s COVID-19 Recovery.” In response to the economic injury of COVID-19, NGIN will build a National Community of Practice and work with six Economic Development Districts (EDDs) to implement inclusive economic growth strategies for a durable economic recovery.

NGIN is hiring an Advisor, Inclusive Economic Growth.  This position will be responsible for establishing a National Community of Practice, organizing workshops/roundtables for peer-to-peer exchange, and capturing insights on embedding inclusive economic growth for COVID-19 Recovery.  This position will unite the project, bringing stakeholders together and advancing innovation and practice.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Build relationships with Economic Development Districts (EDDs) and Regional Planning Organizations (RPOs) interested in inclusive economic development
  • Identify opportunities to bring practitioners together for peer-to-peer exchange
  • Develop and plan virtual events, including session topics, speaker identification and attendees
  • Work with team members to synthesize insights from the six EDDs to share with the National Community of Practice
  • On an ongoing basis, synthesize project insights and develop case studies, blogs and/or videos
  • Work in collaboration with the subawardee to develop a tool and training to synthesize best practice and insights from the project
  • Work closely with NGIN team members, especially the Associate and Finance partner, to track project progress and document results
  • Ensure compliance with Federal guidelines across the breadth of the project

About the Candidate: 

You have strong experience in economic development and a firm commitment to inclusion and economic justice.  You are a fantastic communicator, enjoy stakeholder engagement, and bringing people together for knowledge exchange.  You have the capacity to rapidly acquire new skills, balance multiple projects and be proactive and solution oriented.

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience working with EDDs and/or RPOs
  • Experience with communities of practice, cohorts or networked-learning
  • Understanding of Federal Award guidelines
