NADO Member Feedback Requested for USDA Equity Commission
NADO member Cheryal Lee Hills, Executive Director of Region Five Development Commission in Minnesota, serves on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Equity Commission to provide input on USDA’s programs and policies. Cheryal is seeking feedback from other rural regional development organizations who are familiar with USDA’s programs and services to shape those recommendations. In your experience, are there practices or policies within the USDA Rural Development programs that limit equitable service to people of color, persistently poor, or underserved populations? If you could change any USDA RD systems that may prevent equitable delivery and/or outcomes sought for rural places and underserved populations, what would those recommended changes be? Please send brief thoughts or examples to Cheryal at chills@regionfive.org. For context, find more information about the USDA Equity Commission or review the Interim Report (PDF).
