Know Your Region Webinar: Utilizing EDA Data Tools in your CEDS (3/14/2012)

Posted on: March 22nd, 2012 by Matt Black

On March 14, 2012, the NADO Research Foundation, in collaboration with EDA, hosted a webinar that explored how EDA sponsored data tools can assist regional development organizations in understanding their regional assets and creating economic development strategies that increase regional competitiveness. The webinar examined components of Harvard’s Clustermapping.us (http://clustermapping NULL.us/index NULL.html) and the University of Indiana’s STATS America (http://www NULL.statsamerica NULL.org/). The cluster mapping website was designed to give a detailed picture of the location and performance of industries in the United States, with a special focus on the linkages or externalities across industries that give rise to clusters. STATS America gives economic development practitioners additional access to a wealth of data that can be used for everything from measuring economic distress to exploring regional innovation.

Rich Bryden Director of Information Products at Harvard’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness and Dr. Tim Slaper, Director of Economic Analysis at the Indiana Business Research Center were the featured presenters.
