A group of 22 U.S. Senators launched an effort this week to focus attention on modernizing America’s manufacturing sector, growing and creating jobs, and strengthening workforce training in high-tech manufacturing. The Manufacturing Jobs for America Initiative (http://www NULL.coons NULL.senate NULL.gov/manufacturing) includes a broad legislative package of proposals with the goals of strengthening the U.S. workforce, opening markets abroad, creating conditions for growth, and expanding access to capital. NADO has endorsed the initiative for its legislative components that will accelerate job creation and encourage economic development and advanced skills training to bring manufacturing jobs back to rural and economically distressed communities.
