The Senate Budget Committee is expected to consider its fiscal year (FY) 2016 budget resolution next week. The Senate budget resolution would balance the budget over 10 years and maintain the FY2016 sequestration caps on defense and non-defense discretionary spending set by the Budget Control Act. Senate Democrats do not plan to introduce an alternative budget resolution. If the budget resolution is approved by the Senate Budget Committee, it could be on the Senate floor the week of March 29. The House Budget Committee also plans to consider their own FY2016 budget resolution, but no release date or hearings have been announced.
