Senate Appropriations Committee Approves FY2018 Transportation-HUD Spending Bill

On Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its fiscal year (FY) 2018 spending bill for Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.  The bill funds U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) programs at $19.47 billion in discretionary appropriations, $987 million above the FY2017 enacted level.  Within the department, the Federal-aid Highway Program is funded at $45 billion in line with the FAST Act authorized level.  The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program is funded at $550 million, $50 million above the FY2017 enacted level.  For the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, $40.2 billion is provided, an increase of $1.4 billion above the FY2017 enacted.  The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is funded at $3 billion and the HOME Investment Partnerships program is funded at $950 million; both programs are funded at the same levels as FY2017.
