Senate Appropriations Committee Approves FY2018 Commerce, Justice, Science Spending Bill; Provides $254 Million for EDA

On Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved a fiscal year (FY) 2018 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill.  The bill includes $254 million for the U.S. Economic Development Administration.  This is $22 million below the FY2017 enacted level, but $78 million more than the House recommended level of $176 million.  Within the Senate allocation, programmatic recommendations include $100 million for public works, $37 million for economic adjustment assistance, and $21 million for the Regional Innovation Program.  Further details on programmatic recommendations are not yet available.
