Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its version of the fiscal year (FY) 2015 Agriculture Appropriations bill.  The bill funds U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs at $20.5 billion for FY2015.  The bill funds USDA-Rural Development programs at $2.4 billion, which is $460 million above the Administration’s FY15 request.  The bill provides $1.09 billion for rural rental assistance and the bill maintains $1.7 billion in water and waste water loans and grants, which is $150 million above the Administration’s FY2015 request.  The bill also provides $13 million for the Rural Community Facility Grants Program and $26.5 million for the Rural Business Development Grants Program. Additionally, the bill rejects many of the Administration’s FY2015 budget proposals to reduce rural housing guaranteed loan programs.  The bill now moves to the Senate floor for consideration.  Dates for floor consideration have yet to be announced.  Click here (http://www NULL.gpo NULL.pdf) to view the full text of the legislation.  Click here (http://www NULL.gpo NULL.pdf) for the committee report.
