On August 24 – 26, 2011, the National Rural Transportation Conference occurred in Washington, DC.  The conference provided peer training and networking on a variety of multi-modal rural and small metropolitan transportation planning topics, as well as timely federal program updates to an audience of 150 attendees from across the country.  Throughout the conference federal agency staff from the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, and National Transportation Safety Board participated as speakers and attendees, along with staff and board members from regional planning and development organizations across the nation and other stakeholders.  A special tour of the White House concluded the conference.

The National Rural Transportation Peer Learning Conference is sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission, Development District Association of Appalachia, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, National Association of Development Organizations and RPO America, and other planning partners.
