President Obama Nominates Jay Williams as Assistant Secretary for Economic Development at the U.S. Department of Commerce

This week President Obama nominated Jay Williams to head the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). Williams is the former mayor of Youngstown, Ohio and has served in the Obama Administration as Executive Director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers helping communities and workers adversely impacted by the struggles of the domestic automotive business. Most recently he served as White House Deputy Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs where he worked with elected officials from cities, towns, and counties. The nomination must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
