Recent actions by the Trump administration related to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (https://www NULL.usda NULL.gov/) have been met with disapproval from congressional members and stakeholder groups.  On May 30, Senate Democrats sent a letter (https://www NULL.agriculture NULL.senate NULL.gov/imo/media/doc/5 NULL.30 NULL.17%20Letter%20on%20RD%20funding NULL.pdf) to President Trump stating opposition to severe cuts to Rural Development programs under the Department of Agriculture’s FY2018 budget proposal (https://www NULL.usda NULL.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USDA-Budget-Summary-2018 NULL.pdf).  Senators also express concern over the department’s recently issued reorganization plan (https://www NULL.usda NULL.gov/sites/default/files/documents/report-proposed-2017-reorg-usda-under-secretary-trade-foreign-agricultural-affairs NULL.pdf) that calls for eliminating the Undersecretary for Rural Development position.  In all, 29 senators signed the letter.  More information is available here (https://www NULL.agriculture NULL.senate NULL.gov/newsroom/dem/press/release/senate-democrats-raise-concerns-over-president-trumps-cuts-to-rural-development-).  Additionally, the National Rural Housing Coalition (http://ruralhousingcoalition NULL.org/) (NRHC) is leading a sign-on letter to the Trump administration opposing proposed budget cuts and USDA’s reorganization proposal.  NRHC is keeping the letter open through June 9.  To view the letter and add your organization’s name, click here (http://org2 NULL.salsalabs NULL.com/o/5172/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=24933)
