NADO President Participates in Senate Rural Summit

This week, NADO President Jeff Kiely, Executive Director of the Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments, represented NADO at a Senate Democratic sponsored Rural Summit, Fostering the Next Generation of Rural America.  The summit focused on the unique barriers to ensuring economic opportunity in rural communities.  Keynote remarks were provided by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.  Panelists on topics such as rural health care, broadband service, and innovation and entrepreneurship engaged in dialogue with U.S. Senators on the challenges and opportunities for rural communities.  President Kiely’s panel focused on infrastructure investment opportunities in rural America and the necessity of regional cooperation.
