On July 16, Matthew D. Chase, Executive Director of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO), was named as the new executive director of the National Association of Counties (NACo) during a vote of NACo’s board of directors.  Chase has served with NADO since 1997, including the past nine years in his current position.

NADO President Russell Cowley stated, “We are very appreciative of Matt’s 15 years of service with NADO. He has been a true champion for regional development organizations and our local government partners.  He has helped us build a strong national association, with a prominent voice for regional approaches and solutions.  We’re pleased he will be staying in the local government arena and will continue our strong partnership with NACo.”

Chase commented, “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the members of NADO.  It is a tremendous organization with very dedicated and talented leaders, members and staff. It is also an important voice at the federal level, as well as an invaluable resource for our nation’s regional planning and development policymakers, professionals and partners.  Now it is time for new leadership to bring NADO and its membership to the next level.”

President Cowley and the NADO executive committee and board will be organizing a national search committee and process.  Chase will continue to serve as executive director until mid-September.
