The application for 2023 Aliceann Wohlbruck NADO Impact Awards is open on NADO's website now until July 21. The award honors significant advances in community and economic development, including but not limited to small business finance, energy and infrastructure projects, housing and human services, sustainable development, workforce development, and more. Learn more about the award and begin an application here.

NADO Welcomes New Staff Member 
National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) is thrilled to announce that Karron Grant has joined the NADO team as NADO’s Administrative Specialist. In his role, Karron will work closely with staff to support the organization's day-to-day operations and support NADO membership. Karron will be heavily involved with NADO’s database management and member portal. If you need to update your contact information in the database, pay a membership invoice, or need help accessing the portal, he is happy to assist! He will also be NADO’s point of contact for conference registration both in advance and on-site. If you plan to attend a future NADO event, make sure to introduce yourself to him. Overcoming the Planning Silos: Integrating Economic Development and Hazard Mitigation Planning (NADO Webinar)
How connected are your regional CEDS and hazard mitigation plans? Does your District’s Hazard Mitigation staff understand what a CEDS is? The NADO Research Foundation’s “EDDs in Action” case studies series demonstrates the wide breadth of programs, projects, and initiatives EDDs support and implement to improve their regions – making them more resilient, prosperous, and better prepared for the future. Recently added mini case studies highlight incorporating equity into the CEDS and economic resiliency and recovery initiatives. Click here to access the series. 

New Resources for Hazard Mitigation and Infrastructure Resilience Planning Framework Added to NADO's Resource Center
NADO Research Foundation has published two new documents as part of the Economic Development District Community of Practice (EDD CoP). Tips from a Planner: Implementing the Infrastructure Resilience Planning Framework and Hazard Mitigation and CEDS Integration Tip Sheet are now available in NADO's Resource Center.
Wealth Creation Training Opportunity
Region Five Development Commission is hosting wealth creation trainings in ND, SD, and MN. Through the EDD Community of Practice, NADO is offering these free opportunities to interested EDDs: 

Wealth creation is about connecting a region’s assets to meet market demand. This opportunity may be especially useful to EDDs if they are working on inventorying assets/SWOT, or considering ways of supporting economic development strategies/sectors. Please RSVP online if interested in attending a training or email Melissa Levy for more information.

Climate Ready Workforce Funding Opportunity
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Sea Grant and Climate Program Office, together with support from the NOAA Office of Coastal Management, has opened the Climate Ready Workforce for Coastal States, Tribes, and Territories Initiative funding opportunity. These grants will help establish programs aimed at placing people across the country into good jobs that advance climate resilience and assist employers in developing a 21st century workforce that is climate literate, informed by climate resilience, and skilled at addressing consequent challenges. Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program Funding Guide
The REPI program released its yearly funding guide to help applicants identify funding opportunities for resilience and conservation projects across the federal grantmaking landscape. The REPI program aims to support resilience and conservation projects in areas surrounding military installations and ranges. Key information included in the funding guide includes application and program eligibility requirements, a funding opportunity calendar, and cost-share information. 

Recompete Pilot Program Notice of Funding Opportunity
The EDA is now accepting applications for the $200 million Recompete Pilot Program which is designed to make focused investments in communities most in need of economic resources and options to ensure that all communities have a path to economic prosperity. Funding will be deployed through a two-phase competition, with Phase 1 applications open now until October 5

IEDC Report: ‘Live, Work, and Play’: Attracting and Retaining Tomorrow’s Talent
The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Economic Development Research Partners Program has released its latest report examining the impacts of social and demographic trends on the future labor force, what younger workers seek from communities and employers, and how economic development organizations are responding to ensure that communities have the talent they need for the future. Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program
A Notice of Funding Opportunity was released for the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program. This program is focused on helping rural populations and tribal communities develop projects and capacity resources that will lead to future USDOT grant applications for implementation/construction activities. Funds will be available on a first come first served basis with no matching funds required. The application window will open on August 14. Learn more here

Southeast Crescent Regional Commission Notice of Funding Availability 
The Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC) has released its first Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) which will guide SCRC’s investments into the Southeast Crescent region. The NOFA provides details about eligible uses of the SCRC’s State Economic and Infrastructure Development (SEID) Grant Program funds and application requirements. The pre-application deadline is July 21 and the full application deadline is September 15.

Our Town Applications Open Until August 3
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town program supports projects that advance local economic, physical, or social outcomes that contribute to long-term systems change within communities. Guidelines and instructions for the Our Town grant program are now available online. The application is submitted in two parts; the Part 1 deadline is August 3. Click here to learn more and apply.

NOAA Climate Resilience Regional Challenge Funding Opportunity 
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Climate Resilience Regional Challenge, which provides $575 million in funding from the Inflation Reduction Act for investing in collaborative approaches to coastal resilience at regional scales. Letters of intent are due August 21. New USDA Rural Energy Programs
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced the availability of nearly $11 billion in grants and loan opportunities to help rural energy and utility providers bring affordable clean energy to communities. Funding will be available through two new programs under the Inflation Reduction Act: the Empowering Rural America (New ERA) program and the Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) program. USDA will accept Letters of Interest from June 30 to September 29 for the PACE program and from July 31 to August 31 for the New ERA program. NADO RF is seeking proposals from qualified organizations with documented experience providing guidance and leadership on the topic of establishing a benchmark of essential level of service (ELOS) for marine ferry service to rural communities.
