Joint NADO/NACo Workforce Legislative Webinar on June 10

Posted on: June 4th, 2014 by NADO Admin

On June 10 at 2 p.m. ET, the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) and the National Association of Counties (http://www NULL.naco NULL.org/) (NACo) will host a joint webinar (https://www2 NULL.gotomeeting NULL.com/register/543048634) to provide an overview of the recently introduced Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 and what it means for local governments and regional workforce systems.

Recently, House and Senate leaders introduced the bipartisan and bicameral legislation, which would reauthorize the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 through 2020. The House and Senate are expected to pass this legislation in the coming weeks. Last week, NADO sent a support letter to Capitol Hill endorsing the bipartisan bill.

Despite efforts to reduce the local role in a reauthorization bill, the bipartisan legislation preserves local governance authority, provides flexibility, and maintains funding. ¬†Participants will have a chance to ask questions, hear analysis of the bill, and the implications for local workforce systems.¬† Click here (https://www2 NULL.gotomeeting NULL.com/register/543048634) to register.¬† For additional questions, please contact Ted Stiger at 202.624.8467 or [email protected] (tstiger null@null nado NULL.org).
