On Thursday, before adjourning for a two-week recess, the House approved a fiscal year (FY) 2015 budget resolution by a vote of 219 to 205.  The budget blueprint, drafted by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), calls for a balanced budget by FY2024 achieved by reducing spending by $5.1 trillion over the next 10 years.  Reduced spending would largely be achieved through cuts to entitlement programs.  During consideration of the budget on the House floor, several alternative budget proposals were rejected by the House.  The Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Patty Murray (D-WA), does not plan to introduce a Senate budget resolution.
