House Appropriations Committee to Resume Interior and Environment Funding Bill in September

Posted on: August 2nd, 2013 by NADO Admin

In September, the House Appropriations Committee will resume consideration of its FY2014 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill as Congress goes on August recess. The legislation includes funding for the Department of the Interior (DOI), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Forest Service, and various independent and related agencies.

In total, the bill includes $24.3 billion in funding for FY2014, which is $5.5 billion below the FY2013 enacted level and $4 billion below the current level caused by sequestration cuts. The bill also eliminates funding for EPA’s Brownfields program, which NADO strongly opposes. The Senate Appropriations Committee has yet to act on its version of the bill.
