This week, the House Transportation and Housing Urban Development (T-HUD) Appropriations Subcommittee approved by voice vote its fiscal year (FY) 2017 spending bill.  The bill totals $58.2 billion, a 1.5 percent increase over current levels.  The bill provides highway and transit dollars consistent with the levels included in the recently-enacted surface transportation bill, the FAST Act.  It provides $450 million for National Infrastructure Investment (known as TIGER) grants, $50 million below the FY2016 enacted level and $800 million below the President’s FY2017 budget request.   For HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the bill provides $3 billion (level funding with last year and $200 million above the President’s FY2017 budget request).  The bill provides $950 million for the HOME Investment Partnership Program (level funding with last year and the President’s FY2017 request).  Consideration of the bill by the House Appropriations Committee is scheduled for May 24.
