House Appropriations Committee Releases FY2014 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

On June 17, the U.S. House Appropriations Committee released its draft FY2014 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. The legislation provides annual funding got the five regional economic development commissions.

Highlights of the bill:

·         Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) – provides $70.3 million for ARC, which is $5 million higher than the FY2013 enacted level and $5 million higher than the President’s FY2014 budget request.

·         Delta Regional Authority – provides $11.3 million for DRA, which is level with the FY2013 enacted level and level with the President’s FY2014 budget request.

·         Denali Commission – provides $7.3 million for the commission, which is level with the FY2013 enacted level and level with the President’s FY2014 budget request.

·         Northern Boarder Regional Commission (NRBC) – funds the NRBC at $1.3 million for FY2014, which is slightly higher than the FY2013 enacted level and slightly higher than the President’s FY2014 budget request.

·         Southeast Crescent Regional Commission – provides $250,000 for the commission, which is level with the FY2013 enacted level. The President’s FY2014 budget request did not include funding for the commission.
