Leadership of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees are continuing work on an omnibus appropriations package to fund federal programs through September 30, 2014. The current Continuing Resolution (CR) keeping programs operating ends on January 15.  The budget agreement reached in December sets overall spending at $1.012 trillion for fiscal year (FY) 2014.  Agreement has been reached on six of the twelve annual appropriations bills: Military Construction/Veterans Affairs; Transportation/Housing and Urban Development; Commerce/Justice/Science; Legislative Branch; Defense, and Agriculture.  Policy disagreements and the matter of which, if any, policy riders will be included in the omnibus package are delaying negotiations on the remaining bills.  House leadership has announced they will bring a short term Continuing Resolution (CR) to the floor for a vote early next week. The CR would extend through January 18.
