Now that the President’s FY2015 budget request has been released, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees have begun hearings featuring cabinet-level officials on the administration’s funding requests for federal agencies.  This week, officials from the U.S. Department of Defense (https://www NULL.dod NULL.gov/) (DOD), U.S. Department of Transportation (http://www NULL.dot NULL.gov/) (DOT), and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (http://www NULL.dhs NULL.gov/) (DHS) have appeared before House and Senate appropriations subcommittees to testify on their agencies’ budget requests.  The appropriations committees are expected to move quickly in drafting their FY2015 spending bills with a target of full committee mark-ups in May and floor action over the summer.  With caps for FY2015 defense and domestic spending set, the next step is for the leadership of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to settle on spending allocations for each of the 12 spending bills.
