The House is scheduled to consider a conference agreement on the FY2016 budget resolution next week. Both the House and Senate-passed budgets propose to eliminate the federal deficit within 10 years by cutting trillions in federal spending and not increasing revenue. Among the major issues the budget conference report will address are spending on the Department of Defense’s Overseas Contingency Operations in FY2016 and whether to include offsets to cover the cost of recent changes to the way Medicare pays physicians (known as the “doc fix”).
