FY2015 “Cromnibus” Unveiled; House Passes Narrowly

Posted on: December 12th, 2014 by NADO Admin

This week, House and Senate appropriations leaders unveiled a nine-month, $1.013 trillion spending package for the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2015.  On Thursday, the House approved the package (H.R. 83) by a narrow vote of 219 to 206.  H.R. 83, commonly referred to as the “cromnibus,” provides new funding for 11 of the 12 annual appropriations bills while funding the Department of Homeland Security at current levels through February 27, 2015 to allow the new Republican-led Congress to craft a legislative response to recent administration changes to immigration policy.  The Senate is expected to consider the package as soon as today and President Obama has indicated he will sign it into law.  If approved, the spending measure will have positive impacts on several key programs for regional economic development.  Click here to read a summary of key provisions for NADO members.
