On December 13, the Senate approved a nine-month, $1.013 trillion spending package (H.R. 83) for the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2015 by a vote of 56 to 40.  The House passed the measure on December 11 by a narrow vote of 219 to 206.  H.R. 83, commonly referred to as the “cromnibus,” provides new funding for 11 of the 12 annual appropriations bills while funding the Department of Homeland Security at current levels through February 27, 2015 to allow the new Republican-led Congress to craft a legislative response to recent administration changes to immigration policy.  The President signed the measure into law on December 17.
