Forum Materials: Cultivating Entrepreneurship and Building a Skilled Workforce

On June 11-12, 2013, the National Association of Development Organizations, in conjunction with the National Association of Counties (http://www NULL.naco, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (http://www NULL.hud, and the Delta Regional Authority (http://www NULL.dra, hosted the “Growing Stronger in the Delta” forum in Memphis, Tennessee.  This event provided training and peer learning opportunities for participants to learn how to grow stronger, healthier, more equitable communities in the Delta, driven by economic development strategies based on unique competitive advantages.

Entrepreneurs create jobs, produce wealth, and invest in local communities. A systems approach that supports small businesses, develops entrepreneurs, trains workforce, and fosters collaboration is necessary to foster entrepreneurial communities. Dr. Stapleton presented his work with the Delta Regional Authority to develop a small business and entrepreneurship policy framework, and lead a discussion on local barriers and opportunities.  Click the link below to download the presentation (PDF):
