Fiscal Year 2016 Spending Update: Congress Expected to Pass Another Short Term Continuing Resolution

Congress has been unable to complete a fiscal year (FY) 2016 spending deal this week.  With the current Continuing Resolution (CR) expiring today, a stopgap measure has been introduced to continue funding for federal programs until December 16. (x-apple-data-detectors://1)  The Senate approved the short-term CR yesterday and the House is expected to pass it today.  Lawmakers continue to negotiate a spending deal for the remainder of FY2016, but dozens of policy disputes have stalled progress on an agreement.  Congress is scheduled to adjourn for the year on December 18 (x-apple-data-detectors://2).
