FHWA and FTA Accepting Nominations for 2012 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) have announced a call for nominations for the 2012 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards Program.  The bi-annual awards program honors outstanding initiatives to develop, plan and implement innovative transportation planning practices.  To be eligible, processes or projects nominated must have used FHWA and/or FTA funding.  Nominations will be accepted until December 1.  Award winners will be announced in spring 2012 and recognized at the 2012 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Summer Meeting.  This year, projects FHWA and FTA are seeking project nominations in a new category, Rural and Small Community Planning.  Additional information on the 2012 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards Program and the nomination form is available at http://www.planning.dot.gov/tpea2012/ (http://www NULL.planning NULL.dot NULL.gov/tpea2012/).
