EDFS Peer Learning Conference Registration Open

Posted on: November 6th, 2014 by Carrie Kissel

The 2014 EDFS Peer Learning Conference is scheduled for December 1 – 3 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Join your fellow small business loan fund managers at the Hyatt Regency (https://resweb NULL.passkey NULL.com/Resweb NULL.do?mode=welcome_ei_new&eventID=10894279) to participate in this highly interactive learning opportunity.

The event convenes business loan fund staff that are working in rural and small metropolitan regions to hear best and promising practices from loan funds around the nation, learn about federal program updates from agency staff, and engage in meaningful and relevant discussions and information-sharing with their peers.  This very hands-on conference agenda is being developed to meet the needs of loan fund managers that are working to assist small businesses around the country to thrive and make a positive impact to their local and regional economies, and to be part of the evolving global marketplace.  The focus of this conference is to convene small business loan fund staff and provide a format for intense information-sharing and idea exchange, hear about best and promising practices that could be replicated elsewhere, and to create an environment for rich and meaningful peer networking.  Whether you are managing an EDA RLF, ARC Business Development RLF, USDA IRP or RBEG, CDFI, one of the various SBA loan funds, or other program, there will be information of interest to you or your lending staff.

Topics may cover basic loan fund management, working with problem loans, technical assistance delivery, building a strong portfolio, marketing and partnership building, expanding your capital pool, reaching out to minorities, reviewing business plans, and much more.  As always, we plan to end the conference with program updates from federal agencies.  And NADO’s legislative team will provide an overview of federal policy affecting small business lending.  The agenda is being fine-tuned and will be updated regularly on NADO’s website.

Two very special opportunities for travel assistance are available for loan fund staff from Local Development Districts in the 13-state Appalachian Regional Commission region and for loan fund staff from EDA-funded Revolving Loan Funds in the six-state EDA Chicago region.  For details, visit the conference page on NADO’s website here.

The early bird registration fee for EDFS members is $225 and for non-EDFS members it is $275.  Be sure to register by November 7 to get the reduced rate.  After November 7, the registration fee will jump to $275 for EDFS members and $325 for non-EDFS members.  Click here to register.

The hotel has extended a special rate of $134 (single/double) for conference attendees.  Be sure to mention NADO when you make your reservations and note that the special rate will expire October 31.  Call 402.592.6464 or click here (https://resweb NULL.passkey NULL.com/Resweb NULL.do?mode=welcome_ei_new&eventID=10894279) to reserve your rooms now.
