Congress Returns for Second Session of 114th Congress

Posted on: January 8th, 2016 by NADO Admin

This week, the House and Senate returned from their holiday break and convened for the second legislative session of the 114th Congress.  The House and Senate legislative calendars for this session are now available.  The first action taken by the House was passage of a budget reconciliation package that would dismantle the Affordable Care Act and suspend funding for Planned Parenthood.  The Senate passed the reconciliation package in December.  President Obama will veto it, but this is likely not the last attempt Congress will make in 2016 to gain traction on these two particular issues.  The President will deliver his final State of the Union address on January 12.
