Congress Approves Continuing Resolution Averting a Government Shutdown

On September 30, the last day of the current fiscal year, the House and Senate approved a 10-week continuing resolution (CR) to extend funding for federal programs.  The President signed the CR into law the same day.  The CR extends funding through December 11.  The House vote was 277 to 151; the Senate vote was 78 to 20.
