Assessing the Value of a Statewide CEDS

Posted on: September 9th, 2013 by Alexandria Murnan

This session occurred on August 25, 2013 at the Annual Training Conference in San Francisco, CA.

Statewide collaboration on economic development is an increasingly popular topic among Economic Development Districts and regional councils. Approximately 15 states are engaged in planning or execution of a statewide CEDS initiative, several with EDA funding supporting the project. This session provided an overview of statewide CEDS initiatives and what’s been learned so far about outcomes, with a focus on opportunities, challenges, and how to decide if it may be right for your state.

  • Brian Kelsey, Director of Economic Development, NADO
  • Jeff Kiely, Executive Director, Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments
  • Richard Manwaring, Area Director, EDA Seattle Regional Office
  • Kathleen Lewis, Executive Director, Southeast Idaho COG
