On June 17, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) led a letter to Senate appropriators expressing strong support for the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and requesting funding for EDA in the FY2012 appropriations process. Other Senators that signed the letter included Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).
