Defense Conversion Leads to Economic Diversification
The Fort Ord Reuse Authority was formed in response to the closing of the Fort Ord Army Base in Monterey County, California, and in accordance with the enactment of the Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) community reinvestment program. A reuse plan to convert over half of the 28,000-acre base was also developed that included a four-year state university and a veteran's clinic.

RLF's Stimulate Economic Growth, Jobs and Income
This article explains how EDA's RLF program has been instrumental in making business loans that have created and saved thousands of jobs over the past 25 years. Funded through EDA's Economic Adjustment program, more than 500 RLFs support areas that experience long term economic deterioration.
