The National Association of Development Organizations assisted the New Mexico Association of Regional Councils with the development of the impact report New Mexico's Councils of Governments: Partnerships, Progress and Promise. This report, which was published in January 2007, profiles the statewide impact of the numerous programs and projects that the association's member organizations have developed and implemented. It also highlights the many partnerships forged between the councils and local and state government to provide valuable services to the surrounding communities. It gives detailed examples of specific projects and their impacts as well as a list of programs and services that the seven New Mexico regional councils offer to their region. View the report

Philanthropy and Rural Policy: Reframing the Way Forward
The National Rural Funders Collaborative recently requested that the Rural Policy Research Institute and the National Association of Development Organizations create a background briefing report and facilitate a consultative dialogue for a group of U.S. foundations interested in national rural policy issues. This report is designed to provide a framework for that discussion. The report addresses several areas including the current context for U.S. rural policy, the upcoming Farm Bill reauthorization and the opportunity for a landscape-changing Rural Development Title, and the potential for philanthropic impact in specific policy sectors. NADO 2007 Salary Survey of Regional Development Organizations
The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) conducted a salary survey of 504 regional development organizations (RDOs) in January 2007. The survey included 28 questions that addressed organizational structure, employee recruitment and retention strategies, employee benefits and salary ranges, years of service, board structure and benefits, and basic regional demographics. The survey is intended to help RDO leadership develop new (or modify existing) salary schedules for their organizations based on various factors.

Regional Strategies for Environmental Stewardship:
Successfully Merging Environmental Protection with Regional Development

With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the NADO Research Foundation conducted a scan of its members and other regional development organizations to determine how they promote economic development and environmental sustainability. The scan, along with extensive research and telephone interviews resulted in this detailed report which highlights specific projects and programs that highlight the link between environmental sustainability and economic development.

eFourm: The Pulse of Small Town and Rural America
As a constituency representing one-fourth of the nation's population, the rural voice is frequently underrepresented in national policy discussions. With support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the NADO Research Foundation conducted a timely and informative eForum to gain a renewed understanding of the prevailing opinions of leaders from across America's heartland.
