Reclaiming Rural America's Brownfields: Alternatives to Abandoned Property
With support from the Environmental Protection Agency, the NADO Research Foundation published Reclaiming Rural America's Brownfields: Alternatives to Abandoned Property in April 2001, this report profiles 14 brownfields initiatives located in rural and small metropolitan America. The report follows NADO Research Foundation's 2000 report, Reclaiming Rural America's Brownfields: A National Report on Rural Brownfields Redevelopment. Both reports conclude that obstacles to rural and small metropolitan brownfields assessment, cleanup and redevelopment do exist and include lack of resources (financial, staff and technical), lack of public awareness, concerns over liability, and issues revolving around greenspace vs. brownfields development.
