ICMA has released a new report on greenspaces, Growing
Greener: Revitalizing Brownfields into Greenspace. The
report provides information about different types of

Superfund Across the US
An Analysis of State Superfund Programs: A 50-State Study,
2001 Update, released in November 2002 by the Environmental
Law Institute, offers a comprehensive look at the nation’s

High Need Housing
The Housing Assistance Council’s (HAC’s) November 2002
release of Taking Stock: Rural People, Poverty and
Housing at the Turn of the 21st Century provides case
studies depicting housing conditions in the colonias on
the U.S.-Mexico border, central Appalachia, lower
Mississippi Delta region, Native Americans and farm
workers.

Reinventing the South
The Southern Growth Policies Board has released the
report, Reinventing the Wheel, by Jim Clinton, Carol
Conway and Linda Hoke. This 2003 study presents a new
model of leadership to strengthen the South’s capacity to
respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. The
report includes research on social capital and civic
engagement and gives practical examples of citizens who
are addressing community challenges with inclusive,
connected and collaborative strategies.

for Economics
The Urban Institute and The Fund for Folk Culture’s 2003
report Culture and Commerce: Traditional Arts in Economic
