The Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments located in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, is seeking to fill the position of Executive Director due to the retirement of the current director. TARCOG is a five county agency that is designated as an Appalachian Regional Commission LDD; an Economic Development Administration EDD; and, an Administration on Aging AAA. TARCOG was founded in 1968 and serves 5 counties and 46 municipalities in the northeast sector of Alabama.
The Executive Director is the CEO with overall responsibilities of over 120 persons and a budget for FY 2013 exceeding $12 million. As director, the successful candidate will have leadership of professional staff, financial operations and programmatic functions, while coordinating programs and policies.
The Executive Director of TARCOG is a visible, senior executive position with the responsibility of coordinating and directing a complex, multi-task organization. The position requires a Masters Degree in a field related to planning, public administration, management or economic development with at least five years of management/supervisory experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree with at least ten years of experience in planning/economic development or public administration.
