Conferences, Meetings and Professional Development

NADO conferences have earned a national reputation as the premier events for regional development professionals and policy officials to network with peers, learn about best practices, and gain access to key federal policymakers and potential funders.

The Annual Training Conference, attended by more than 650 participants each year, highlights innovative practices in the field of regional development. The conference offers an interactive setting for information sharing, networking and advanced learning. Mark your calendar for the 2008 conference, October 4 - 7, 2008 in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Washington Policy Conference, held each spring in the nation's Capitol, is an essential part of the association's federal advocacy program. The event features expert panels on federal budget and policy issues, plus participants receive talking points, policy briefs and other materials needed to communicate effectively with federal lawmakers and policymakers. In addition, attendees have a unique chance to network one-on-one with federal agency officials during the federal agency roundtable session. The Economic Development Finance Service offers a highly rated and specialized training series for business development finance professionals. Whether you are an experienced professional or new to the field, the EDFS training curriculum - including the new professional certification program -- offers great tips, tools and resources to improve your organization's revolving loan fund and other business development finance programs.

The NADO Research Foundation has the flexibility and experience to coordinate and sponsor a range of training conferences and workshops. With support from federal agencies, private foundations and others, the association is currently offering workshops on brownfields redevelopment, environmental stewardship and renewable energy, and economic development, small business development finance and transportation planning.
